The American Muslim Center Bylaws
ARTICLE I: Identity
Section 1: Name
This organization is called The American Muslim Center (AMC).
Section 2: Vision Statement
FAITH – We believe that nurturing the spirituality of all our members and guests is paramount. We believe that the core teachings of Islam are universal and timeless, providing guidance and instruction for all people, regardless of background.
FAMILY- We believe that it is critical to make this Center family-friendly. This means promoting programs and events that are welcoming to women, accommodating to children, and relevant to youth.
SERVICE- We seek to engage the broader society in acts of virtue and common good. We strive to partner with other organizations, recognizing that the Muslim community must reach out and play an active role in the broader community. The directors, volunteers, staff and members of the American Muslim Center stand by these principles. We seek God’s help in upholding them with integrity and with steadfastness.

Section 3: Mission Statement
The AMC is a Muslim community center dedicated to promoting the values and teachings of Islam and to advocating interfaith harmony in a multicultural environment in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah:
- To provide social, spiritual, religious, and educational services and events for the local Muslim community.
- To provide social, spiritual, religious, and educational services and events for the local Muslim youth.
- To provide accurate and understandable information about the values and principles of Islam to the local community.
- To establish and maintain good working relationships with local religious and municipal leaders.- To establish and maintain good working relationships with local religious and municipal leaders.
ARTICLE II: Membership

Section 2: Qualifications and Requirements of Membership
- The Member must be at least 18 years old.
- The Member must be in good standing under Massachusetts and United States law.
- The Member agrees to and abides by the decisions of the collective authority.
- The Member accepts the AMC Vision and Values stated above.
Section 3: Suspension
The Board of Directors reserves the right to suspend or revoke the membership of a Member if it is proven such Member has violated United States law, Massachusetts law, or the AMC Code of Conduct. Suspension shall be by a BOD majority vote and is not subject to appeal. After a 6 month grace period, such person may request the case be reviewed, and the BOD will vote again to either lift the suspension or revoke the membership.
ARTICLE Ill: Organizational Structure
Section 1: Levels of Membership
- Subscriber
- Sustainer
- Team Leade
- Director
Section 2: Subscriber
A Subscriber is a Member who keeps appraised of AMC events and programs.
- This first step of membership requires only that the person submit their name and contact information.
- In return, the Subscriber receives email newsletters and AMC mailings.
Section 3: Sustainer
A Sustainer is a Member who supports and sustains the AMC events and programs.
Must adhere to all Subscriber requirements, and
- Commits to paying Membership Dues (minimum of $20 per month)
- Qualified to vote in yearly Directors' Elections.
Section 4: Team Leader
A Team Leader is a Member who plans and participates in overseeing and running AMC events and programs.
Must adhere to all Sustainer requirements, and
- Responsible for supervising and coordinating the programs or events of his or her Team.
- Qualified to have his or her name on the ballot as a nominee in the yearly Directors' Elections.
The Team Leaders shall be responsible for:
- The daily operations of the AMC.
- The religious, social, cultural affairs and activities of the AMC.
- The implementation of strategies and policies set by the BOD.
- The organization and promotion of the services and programs of the AMC.
- The implementation of strategies and policies set by the BOD.
- The preparation of an annual budget to achieve the vision and mission set by the BOD.
